he amazing & absolute miracle of birth is difficult to put in words. Whether a mother has opted for a natural or cesarean birth, or with pain medication or not is irrelevant, as the fact for being the 'vehicle' - for lack of a better word - which allowed a life to enter the world unites them all.
Many a debate centres on birthing options, & whether you do or do not think it is necessary, their are more choices to be made these days. A 'natural' birth is the vaginal birth where a woman's muscles in the uterus contract to allow the baby to be pushed through the cervix. This is known to be the most painful, with gas, epidurals, & pain relievers available to ease the immense discomfort.
A popular natural birth in recent times is a water birth, whereby the surrounding water is intended to replicate the amniotic fluid in the womb which the baby is so used to for nine months.
The other birthing option is cesarean where the mother is anesthetised & cut along the lower abdominal area, & then again on her uterus. Then after the amniotic fluid is released, so will the newborn. For many cesarean is not a choice, but rather the most safest option for mother & baby.
... & choosing the most safest birth plan for you & your baby is probably all you will keep in mind when talking to your GP or obstetrician about how you want your sweet bundle of joy to enter this world!
