reastfeeding is a wonderful bonding time between mother & baby, as the child is held close & secure whilst receiving the nutrients they need.
For first time mothers breastfeeding is an unusual experience which gets easier over time. Ensuring your baby is latched on properly is what guarantees the baby is eating well & will thrive. Be sure to ask for assistance & advice from health professionals, such as nurses, midwives, or your GP so you can learn to breastfeed correctly.
Comfort for the mother is also vital to ease the feeding experience. Pillows can help bring baby closer to the breast & a comfortable chair should be found. Breastfeeding should also not be painful, & if pain does occur consult your doctor straight away, as it could be mastitis.

Other breast discomfort due to milk supply is engorged breasts, this is when the breast is so full of milk that you may also leak (breast pads are handy for leakage). If you experience engorgement try & pump milk out until their comfortable again & do not wait until its feed time as it may cause milk clogs & lumps in the breast.
Although the closeness at feeding time between mother & baby helps create a bond like no other, for those that cannot breastfeed for whatever reason, bottle feeding can be just as impactful. & whilst "breast is best" holding your baby is part of the security they feel when they are with you, & it is great for dad's too.
